Real to Real Cacophony

Released only seven months after their debut, Real to Real Cacophony represents one of the most drastic stylistic shifts in post-punk history. Moving away from the glam-influenced 'Life in a Day', Simple Minds embraced the influence of Kraftwerk, Neu!, and David Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy. Recorded at Rockfield Studios, the album is characterized by its experimental structure, featuring several instrumentals and tracks that eschew traditional verse-chorus formats. It was a commercial failure at the time but has since been reclaimed as a seminal work of the era.
