Remedy

Released in 2021, Remedy marked Azure Ray's first full-length studio album in eleven years, following 2010's Drawing Down the Moon. Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink reunited with long-time collaborator and producer Louis Schefano to craft a sound that honors their Omaha-born indie-folk roots while embracing a more polished, electronic-leaning dream-pop aesthetic. The album was recorded during a period of global isolation, which arguably intensified the duo's natural inclination toward themes of solitude and internal reckoning. Sonically, the record is defined by its use of negative space; the arrangements are deliberate, often centered around a singular piano motif or a pulsing synth line that allows their trademark breathy harmonies to remain the focal point.
