Restless

Released in December 2000, Restless represents Xzibit's major commercial breakthrough, largely facilitated by his association with Dr. Dre and the Aftermath camp following his appearance on the Up in Smoke Tour. While his previous albums, At the Speed of Life and 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz, established him as a premier lyricist with a rugged underground sensibility, Restless transitioned him into the mainstream spotlight. The album features a 'who's who' of turn-of-the-millennium hip-hop royalty, including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Nate Dogg, alongside production from Dr. Dre, Rockwilder, and Battlecat. Sonically, it is characterized by the 'Aftermath sound': crisp, high-fidelity drums, cinematic string arrangements, and a heavy emphasis on the low end. It was certified Platinum within months of its release, solidifying Xzibit's place as a central figure in the West Coast's dominant era.
