Released in October 1972, Rhymes & Reasons is Carole King's fourth studio album and served as the follow-up to Music (1971) and the era-defining Tapestry (1971). While it reached #2 on the Billboard 200, it is often viewed as a more transitional and understated work than its predecessors. The album was produced by Lou Adler and features King's signature 'percussive' piano style, which provides the rhythmic foundation for most tracks.
