Ruthless

Released in late 2021, Ruthless represents a pivotal moment for Nonpoint as they transitioned to their own independent label, 361 Degrees Records. This EP serves as a manifesto of their independence, stripping away any remaining post-grunge polish in favor of a harder, more rhythmic alternative metal sound. The title track became a significant hit on rock radio, reinforcing the band's longevity in a genre that often sees high turnover. Sonically, the record leans heavily into the 'groove metal' identity they established in the early 2000s but updates it with 2020s production standards: tighter low-end, more prominent electronic textures, and a more aggressive vocal mix.
