Seven Days Walking: Day 1

Seven Days Walking: Day 1 is the inaugural volume of Ludovico Einaudi's most ambitious project to date: a seven-album series released over seven months. The project was conceived during Einaudi's winter walks in the Italian Alps in 2018, where the uniformity of the snowy landscape led him to notice minute variations in his surroundings. This concept of 'variation on a theme' is the structural backbone of the album. Recorded at Schloss Elmau and Air Studios, the production emphasizes a spacious, cinematic quality that has become Einaudi's hallmark. While his previous work, Elements, explored broader natural phenomena, Day 1 is a more insular, focused study of a specific journey. It notably set records for classical streaming, signaling a shift in how modern classical music is consumed in the digital age. The trio format (piano, violin, cello) allows for a more traditional chamber music feel while maintaining the minimalist, accessible structures that have made Einaudi a global phenomenon.
