Seven Days Walking: Day 2

Seven Days Walking: Day 2 is the second installment of Ludovico Einaudi's ambitious 2019 project, which saw him release seven albums over seven consecutive months. Inspired by winter walks in the Italian Alps, the project explores the idea that walking the same route every day reveals new details through changes in light, weather, and internal mood. Day 2 specifically focuses on the variations of the themes introduced in Day 1, utilizing a trio format of piano, cello, and violin. Recorded at Schloss Elmau in Germany, the album captures a pristine, intimate acoustic space. Critics noted that while the project as a whole is massive in scope, Day 2 stands out for its particularly cohesive, atmospheric quality, leaning heavily into the 'Low Mist' and 'Golden Butterflies' motifs. It represents Einaudi at his most iterative and conceptual, moving away from standalone 'hits' toward a long-form, modular listening experience.
