Released in 2011, 'Sign' serves as a concentrated distillation of the German duo Boozoo Bajou's signature sound. While Peter Heider and Florian Seyberth had already established themselves as titans of the downtempo scene with albums like 'Satta' and 'Dust My Broom', this EP focuses on a single thematic core through four distinct iterations. The title track 'Sign' features the soulful, understated vocals that have become a hallmark of their collaborations, set against a backdrop of deep dub-influenced bass and their characteristic 'swampy' blues elements. The EP is notable for the 'Dublex Inc. Slower Remix', which stretches the track into a nearly nine-minute ambient-dub odyssey, emphasizing the duo's connection to the Jamaican dub tradition of using the studio as an instrument. Critically, the EP was seen as a refined continuation of their work, maintaining their status as essential architects of the lounge and chillout movements while avoiding the clichés of the genre through their unique integration of Americana and Delta blues textures.
