Released in early 2020, Simulcast serves as a companion piece and instrumental reimagining of Tycho's 2019 Grammy-nominated album Weather. While Weather introduced prominent vocals to the Tycho project, Simulcast returns to the project's roots by removing the vocal tracks and expanding the instrumental arrangements. This wasn't merely a 'dub' version; Scott Hansen re-recorded and layered new melodic elements to ensure the compositions felt complete as standalone instrumentals. The album features tracks like 'Outer Sunset' and 'PCH,' which lean heavily into the California coastal aesthetic that has defined Hansen's visual and sonic brand.
