Skream EP

Released in 2011 on Skream's own Disfigured Dubz label, the Skream EP serves as a bridge between the artist's foundational dubstep work and the more experimental, industrial-leaning sounds he explored before his pivot to house and disco. While Skream is often credited with the genre's mainstream breakthrough, this EP is a firm return to the 'deep' aesthetic. The four tracks are characterized by their minimalist construction, focusing on the interplay between syncopated percussion and massive, oscillating sub-bass lines. 'Sea Sick' is perhaps the most famous inclusion, noted for its disorienting, pitch-bending bass that mimics the physical sensation of its title. Critically, the EP was seen as a reminder of Skream's technical prowess and his ability to conjure vivid, urban atmospheres without the need for vocal hooks or melodic flourishes.
