Symphonic Tales

Released in 2019, Symphonic Tales is a pivotal EP in HAEVN's discography, serving as a bridge between their electronic-infused debut and their more organic, cinematic future. Recorded with a live string orchestra, the EP features reimagined versions of tracks from their debut album 'Eyes Closed' alongside new material. The project was born from the duo's collaboration with composer Tom Trapp, who helped translate their 'slow-motion' pop sensibilities into full orchestral scores. Sonically, it strips away the drum machines and synthesizers of their earlier work, favoring the resonance of wood and wire. This shift highlighted the strength of their melodic writing and Marijn van der Meer’s distinctive, close-mic vocal style.
