Tasmania

A shimmering collision of synth-funk grooves and eco-anxiety. Polished psychedelic pop that dances through the dread of a changing world.

Tasmania is a vibrant, neon-soaked exploration of the end of the world. It sounds like a party at the edge of a cliff, where the music is so infectious you almost forget the ground is crumbling. Pond has traded their earlier garage-rock fuzz for a high-gloss, synth-heavy production that feels both futuristic and deeply rooted in the glam-rock traditions of the 1970s. The basslines are thick and funky, the drums are punchy and compressed, and Nick Allbrook’s falsetto floats above it all like a ghost in the machine.

Moments Worth Listening For
The transition in Burnt Out Star where the ambient drift suddenly snaps into a driving, motorik groove.
The explosive, distorted synth brass melody that anchors the chorus of Daisy.
The way The Boys Are Killing Me pairs a jaunty, upbeat piano riff with lyrics about toxic masculinity.
The hazy, underwater vocal processing on the title track that makes the lyrics feel like a submerged memory.
