The Bassmachine

Released in August 2004, The Bassmachine is the debut studio album by Basshunter, recorded entirely in his bedroom using early music production software. While Basshunter would later become a global pop phenomenon with 'LOL' and 'Now You're Gone,' this debut captures a much harder, more experimental side of his sound. The album leans heavily into hardstyle and jumpstyle influences, characterized by distorted bass drums and rapid-fire synth leads. It was originally released through Alex Music and later remastered in 2005 to address the raw, sometimes peaking audio levels of the initial bedroom recordings. Critically, it is viewed as a foundational text for the 'Early Bedroom Sessions' era, showcasing a producer obsessed with the sonic possibilities of gaming culture and internet connectivity.
