The Pretender

Released in November 1976, The Pretender is Jackson Browne's fourth studio album and arguably his most profound work. Recorded in the wake of his wife Phyllis Major's suicide, the album is permeated by themes of mortality, fatherhood, and the loss of idealism. Produced by Jon Landau, the record features a 'who's who' of West Coast session royalty, including members of The Section, Lowell George, and David Crosby.
