Things I'll Miss EP

Released in 2008 shortly after his debut full-length Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel, Things I'll Miss serves as a bridge between Atlas Sound's early experimental loops and the more structured psych-pop of later releases. The EP is notable for its 'My' trilogy of tracks (My Car, My Room, My Bed), which suggests a thematic focus on the immediate physical spaces of the artist's life. Musically, it leans heavily into the lo-fi aesthetic, utilizing tape saturation and submerged vocal treatments that would become a hallmark of the chillwave and bedroom pop movements that followed. The track 'Recording Acoustic Drums' stands out as a nearly seven-minute exploration of rhythm and texture, highlighting Cox's interest in the process of sound creation as much as the final song structure.
