Think Tank

Released in 2003, Think Tank represents Blur's most significant sonic pivot, marking their transition from Britpop icons to global experimentalists. Recorded primarily in Morocco following the departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon, the album is defined by his absence and the subsequent shift toward a rhythm-heavy, electronic-influenced sound. Produced largely by the band alongside Ben Hillier, with contributions from Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) and William Orbit, the record incorporates North African instrumentation like the oud and kanoun into a framework of dub-inflected bass and programmed loops. Lyrically, the album is a 'love and politics' record, heavily influenced by the impending Iraq War and the alienation of modern nightlife. It remains the only Blur album to carry a Parental Advisory sticker due to the explicit content of the hidden track 'Me, White Noise'.
