After a decade of increasing commercial pressure at Epic Records to use outside songwriters and heavy synthesizers, the band sought a 'back to basics' approach. They recruited legendary producer Ted Templeman, known for his work with Van Halen and The Doobie Brothers, to capture a rawer, more guitar-centric sound. The recording process took place over four months, resulting in an album that Rick Nielsen described as a 'breath of fresh air.' Sonically, the album leans heavily into hard rock and glam-stomp influences, particularly on tracks like the title song and 'My Gang.' Despite its creative vitality and positive reception from fans who missed the band's harder edge, the album was a commercial disappointment, peaking at 123 on the Billboard 200.
