1982 is a Norwegian improvisational supergroup consisting of Nils Økland (Hardanger fiddle), Sigbjørn Apeland (harmonium/organ), and Øyvind Skarbø (drums). Formed in 2007, the trio occupies a unique intersection of Norwegian traditional music, contemporary classical, and free improvisation.

Nils Økland is a pivotal figure in the modernization of the Hardanger fiddle, bringing an ECM-style aesthetic of space and light to the instrument. Apeland provides a liturgical, drone-heavy foundation via the harmonium, while Skarbø's percussion avoids traditional time-keeping in favor of textural color.
