3JS is a cornerstone of the modern Volendam music scene, a Dutch coastal village famous for producing a specific brand of accessible, melodic pop known as Palingsound. Formed in 2002, the group - originally Jan Dulles, Jaap Kwakman, and Jaap de Witte - distinguished themselves from the schlager-leaning elements of the genre by emphasizing sophisticated acoustic arrangements and complex vocal harmonies.
