E. (Advanced Parallel Evolution) was a British trip-hop duo consisting of Adrian Corker and Paul Conboy.
Emerging during the mid-90s boom of the Bristol and London downtempo scenes, they signed to the influential Dorado Records for their debut 'Striplight' (1995). Their sound is characterized by a sophisticated blend of jazz, dub, and ambient techno, utilizing the Akai sampler as a primary compositional tool. E. maintained a darker, more experimental edge that drew comparisons to early Mo' Wax releases and the cinematic noir of Portishead. Following their second album 'Ebb and Flow' (1999) on Far Out Recordings, the duo evolved into the project Corker / Conboy, moving toward more avant-garde and film-scoring territories. Their work is highly regarded by collectors of 90s electronic music for its high production values and its ability to capture a specific urban, late-night British melancholy.
