Aether

Aether is the Munich-based black metal project of the artist known as Ravachol, active since 2006. While sharing a name with several electronic and melodic metal acts, this iteration of Aether is defined by its strict adherence to the 'black metal as political weapon' ethos.

Eschewing the genre's typical fascination with Satanism or paganism, Ravachol uses the project to explore radical political views and challenge the established ideologies within the metal scene. The sound identity is rooted in the second wave of black metal but incorporates significant elements of noise and atmospheric sludge, resulting in a murky, high-gain aesthetic.
