Airliner

Airliner is primarily the solo project of Swedish musician Kristian Rosengren, formerly of the band Aerospace. Emerging from the influential Labrador Records scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Airliner epitomizes the 'Swedish Indie Pop' sound: a combination of jangly acoustic foundations, minimalist electronic textures, and a pervasive sense of wistful melancholy.

The project's definitive work, 'The Last Days of August' (2003), was produced by Johan Angergård, a central figure in the scene through his work with Club 8 and Acid House Kings. This collaboration solidified Airliner's place within a specific lineage of twee and chamber pop that prioritizes emotional intimacy and melodic simplicity. While Seth Haley (Com Truise) also used the moniker for his early synthwave experiments, the Rosengren project remains the primary referent for fans of the 'Labrador' sound. Critically, Airliner is respected for its restraint and its ability to evoke profound loneliness through sparse arrangements. The music serves as a bridge between the 90s C86 influence and the more polished, electronic-leaning indie pop of the mid-2000s.
