AKADO is a Russian alternative metal project founded by vocalist ShatEneW in 2002. The band is notable for being one of the few prominent Eastern European acts to explicitly incorporate the aesthetics and philosophy of Japanese Visual Kei into an industrial and nu-metal framework.
ShatEneW's vision was to create a 'holistic' project where visual identity, cinematography, and music were inseparable. This led to a sound often categorized by fans as 'Shizo-nu-metal,' characterized by its erratic structures, theatrical vocal performances, and heavy use of electronic sampling. Their mid-2000s output, particularly the 'Kuroi AIDA' EP, established them as a cult fixture in the Russian alternative scene, bridging the gap between mainstream nu-metal and underground art-rock. Critically, they are recognized for their high production values and sophisticated music videos, which helped elevate the visual standards of the Russian alternative movement. Their sound has evolved from raw alternative rock toward a more polished, synth-heavy industrial metal sound in later releases like 'DARKSIDE' and 'AURA'.
