Akira Yamaoka is a Japanese composer, producer, and sound designer recognized for his work across rock, dark ambient, and trip hop genres. He is best known for scoring and producing the majority of the Silent Hill video game series and its film adaptations. Since 2010, Yamaoka has held the position of sound director at Grasshopper Manufacture, and he has served as a director and sound designer at Supertrick Games since 2018.
