Intro

Alex da Kid crafts music that feels like the climax of a blockbuster film. His sound is defined by massive, earth-shaking percussion, soaring melodic hooks, and a sense of urgent drama that bridges the gap between hip-hop and alternative rock. It is the sound of high-stakes emotion, where every piano chord feels heavy with history and every beat is designed to fill a stadium.

What makes him distinctive is his ability to take the intimacy of a confessional lyric and wrap it in a maximalist 'wall of sound' production. He often utilizes heavy compression and layered instrumentation to create a dense, immersive experience. His later work under the by.ALEXANDER moniker reveals a surprising pivot into avant-garde jazz and noir-inspired textures, showing a restless creative spirit that refuses to stay in the pop-rap lane.

Start with the single 'Not Easy' to hear his signature blend of diverse vocalists over a driving, cinematic beat. For those interested in his more experimental, atmospheric side, dive into '000 CHANNEL BLACK' to hear how he deconstructs his pop sensibilities into something much more mysterious and jazz-inflected.

He is known for his production work on songs for music industry artists, such as Dr. Dre ("I Need a Doctor"), Nicki Minaj ("Massive Attack"), B.o.B ("Airplanes" featuring Hayley Williams), Eminem ("Love the Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna), Matthew Koma ("Stars"), Diddy ("Coming Home" with Dirty Money featuring Skylar Grey), Imagine Dragons ("Radioactive" "Demons") and Cheryl ("Under The Sun"). His style is noted for its blending of pop, hip-hop and alternative rock. The Evening Standard named him one of "London's Most Influential People in 2011." He has been nominated for numerous Grammy Awards including Album of the Year for his work on Rihanna's Loud. His record label, Kidinakorner, has been an imprint of Interscope Records since 2011. In both 2013 and 2014, Grant (as owner of Kidinakorner Records) was chosen by Billboard magazine for their "Top 40 Under 40."
