Archive is a London-formed collective that has spent three decades evolving from a trip-hop outfit into one of Europe's most formidable progressive rock entities. Founded by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths in 1994, the group's trajectory is marked by a restless refusal to stick to one genre.
Their 1996 debut, Londinium, remains a high-water mark for dark, orchestral electronica, but it was 2002's 'You All Look The Same To Me' that redefined them as a 'trip-rock' powerhouse, heavily influenced by the structural ambition of Pink Floyd and the textural depth of post-rock. Despite their British roots, they found their greatest success in mainland Europe, particularly France and Poland, where their cinematic soundscapes and social-political themes resonated deeply. The collective's strength lies in its rotating cast of vocalists, allowing for a diverse range of emotional delivery while Keeler and Griffiths maintain a consistent sonic architecture of slow-burn crescendos and dense, moody production.
