Art of Fighters

Art of Fighters (AOF) are a seminal Italian hardcore techno group formed in 1997 in Brescia. Originally a trio consisting of Cristian Nardelli, Matteo Pitossi, and Luca Lorini, they rose to prominence through the Traxtorm Records label, mentored by The Stunned Guys.

Their sound identity is a cornerstone of the 'Mainstream Hardcore' or 'Gabber' evolution, moving the genre away from simple 909 loops toward complex, distorted kick-bass synthesis and anthemic, trance-influenced synth leads. Their 2002 release 'Earthquake' is widely cited as a genre-defining moment that bridged the gap between underground industrial sounds and massive festival appeal. Culturally, they represent the peak of the Italian hardcore influence on the European rave circuit. Critical consensus highlights their technical proficiency and their ability to maintain a high-energy 'live' feel in their productions. Their influence is visible in the works of DJ Mad Dog and Tha Playah, particularly in the use of melodic distortion. The group also explores darker, more complex sonic territory under their Meccano Twins alias, showcasing a versatility rare in the hardcore scene.
