Astralis

Astralis is a Chilean progressive rock ensemble formed in 1999, led by guitarist and primary composer Patricio Vera-Pinto. Their sound identity is firmly rooted in the Neo-Prog movement, drawing significant influence from the melodic sensibilities of Pink Floyd, Marillion, and Pendragon.

Unlike many of their European contemporaries, Astralis incorporates a distinctively Chilean atmospheric quality, often referencing natural themes and landscapes in their titles and lyrical content. Their debut 'Bienvenida Al Interior' (2006) established their template: long-form symphonic pieces characterized by fluid keyboard work and highly emotive guitar solos. Critical consensus highlights Vera-Pinto's ability to craft 'Gilmour-esque' leads that serve as the emotional anchor for their complex arrangements. While the band remains a niche entity within the global prog scene, they are highly regarded in South American rock circles for their high production standards and the seamless integration of Spanish lyrics into a genre often dominated by English.
