AWeX

AWeX (Adler-Wax-eXperiments) is a seminal German electronic project formed in 1994 by producers Tom Wax and Thorsten Adler. Emerging from the fertile Frankfurt and Berlin techno scenes, the duo initially conceived the project as a laboratory for sonic exploration outside their more commercial ventures.

Their sound is a cornerstone of the 'Hard Trance' and 'Acid Techno' crossover that dominated European dance floors in the mid-1990s. Their debut single, 'It's Our Future,' became a cultural phenomenon, serving as the unofficial anthem for the 1995 Berlin Love Parade and cementing their status in rave history. Musically, AWeX is defined by aggressive 303 manipulation, high-tempo percussion, and a 'wall of sound' production style that favored intensity over subtlety. They are frequently associated with the Phuture Wax label and are peers to acts like Raver's Nature and Genlog, representing a specific era of German electronic music that prioritized raw, high-energy hardware experimentation. Their influence persists in modern industrial techno and neo-acid movements.
