Formed in 1977 across Madrid and Toledo, the Spanish vocal duo Baccara consists of Mayte Mateos and María Mendiola. The pair gained global recognition through their debut hit, Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which remains a top-selling single for a female duo. Their signature blend of pop and Eurodisco earned them international tours and a Eurovision appearance before the members shifted their focus toward independent solo projects during the early 1980s.
