BB Brunes emerged in 2005 as the figureheads of the 'nouvelle scène rock française,' a movement that revitalized French-language rock for a younger generation. Formed by childhood friends Adrien Gallo, Karim Réveillé, and Raphaël Delorme (later replaced by Félix Hemmen), the band transitioned from singing in English to French, finding their voice by blending UK/US indie influences with the heritage of French 'yé-yé' and chanson.
Their sound identity is built on tight, interlocking guitar parts and Gallo's charismatic, dandy-esque persona. Over their career, they evolved from the raw garage rock of 'Blonde comme moi' (2007) to the more atmospheric, synth-heavy textures of 'Long courrier' (2012), demonstrating a significant stylistic range. Critically, they are seen as the band that proved French rock could be both commercially massive and stylistically credible in the 21st century. They occupy a central role in French pop culture, bridging the gap between mainstream pop accessibility and indie rock edge.
