Beaumont was a London-based project primarily featuring Paul Stewart and Keith Girdler, both formerly of the influential indie pop band Blueboy. Signed to the Spanish label Siesta Records, they became a cornerstone of the label's 'sophisti-pop' and 'twee' aesthetic during the early 2000s.
Their sound moved away from the stripped-back melancholy of Blueboy toward a more ornate, chamber-pop sound influenced by 1960s film soundtracks, bossa nova, and baroque arrangements.
