Birds in Row

High-velocity French screamo that balances raw, throat-shredding aggression with moments of haunting, melodic introspection. Intense, cathartic, and deeply human.

Intro

Birds in Row sounds like a nervous breakdown captured in high fidelity. It is music that exists at the breaking point, where the speed of hardcore punk meets the melodic despair of screamo. The guitars oscillate between jagged, dissonant chords and soaring, melancholic leads, while the rhythm section provides a frantic, heart-racing pulse that rarely lets up. It is a sonic representation of internal pressure finally finding an outlet.

What truly distinguishes them is their commitment to the 'band as entity' philosophy, which translates into a remarkably tight and unified sound. Unlike many of their peers who lean into technical showmanship, Birds in Row focus on the collective impact of the song. Their later work, particularly 'Gris Klein', introduces more textured, art-rock sensibilities and varied vocal deliveries without sacrificing the primal, crust-influenced bite that defined their early EPs.

Start with 'Gris Klein' to hear their most polished and compositionally diverse work, or dive into 'You, Me & the Violence' if you want a relentless, 20-minute masterclass in modern screamo. It is the perfect soundtrack for those moments when you need to feel everything at once and then leave it all on the floor.
