Bix

Formed in 1987 in Šiauliai, Bix emerged as a pivotal force in the Lithuanian 'Rock March' era, symbolizing the cultural awakening of the Baltic states. Led by the charismatic Saulius Urbonavičius (Samas), the band quickly transcended local cult status to become one of the few Soviet-era rock acts to successfully tour Western Europe and the United States in the early 1990s.

Their sound identity is a complex hybrid: they anchored post-punk's atmospheric tension with the upbeat syncopation of ska and the groove-heavy approach of funk, often incorporating a full horn section. Critically, they are regarded as a 'live' entity first, with their studio output often struggling to fully capture the explosive, communal energy of their performances.
