Black River

Black River is a Polish supergroup that emerged in 2008, bridging the gap between the country's world-renowned extreme metal scene and classic stoner rock. The lineup is a 'who's who' of Polish metal, including Tomasz 'Orion' Wróblewski (Behemoth) and Dariusz 'Daray' Brzozowski (Vader, Dimmu Borgir).

Despite this background, the band eschews blast beats and tremolo picking in favor of 'Black'n'Roll' - a fusion of stoner metal, garage rock, and hard rock. Their sound identity is defined by analog saturation, high-energy grooves, and the raspy, charismatic delivery of vocalist Maciej Taff. After a significant hiatus due to Taff's health issues, the band returned in 2018, proving their longevity and cultural relevance within the European heavy music circuit. They are critically respected for their ability to simplify their technical prowess into catchy, riff-driven songwriting that appeals to both metalheads and classic rock fans.
