Bloodbound

Bloodbound is a Swedish power metal institution formed in 2004 by Fredrik Bergh and Tomas Olsson. While their visual identity initially borrowed from the black metal scene (specifically the use of corpse paint), their sonic DNA is firmly rooted in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the German power metal school.

Their early work, particularly the debut 'Nosferatu', leaned into a darker, more traditional heavy metal sound reminiscent of Iron Maiden and Mercyful Fate. Over two decades, the band evolved toward a more melodic, symphonic, and anthemic style, aligning them with contemporaries like Powerwolf and Sabaton. The band has navigated several lineup changes, most notably in the vocal department, but solidified their sound with the arrival of Patrik J. Selleby. Critically, they are respected for their high production standards and consistency in delivering hook-heavy, fantasy-themed albums. They occupy a specific niche where theatrical horror imagery meets infectious, upbeat power metal, making them a staple of the European festival circuit.
