Intro

Bobby Brackins creates the kind of music that sounds like a Polaroid of a Los Angeles pool party. It is defined by a crisp, sun-drenched production style that bridges the gap between the raw energy of Bay Area hyphy and the polished, melodic sensibilities of mainstream R&B. The beats are often minimalist but heavy on the low end, utilizing sharp claps and shimmering synth leads that demand a high-quality car stereo.

What sets Brackins apart is his dual identity as a hit-making songwriter and a solo artist. You can hear the 'pen' in his work; the hooks are mathematically precise and engineered for maximum stickiness. His delivery is relaxed and conversational, never trying too hard to be aggressive, which gives his tracks an effortless, cool-kid charisma that feels both aspirational and accessible.

Start with '143' for a dose of pure 2010s nostalgia, or dive into 'Hot Box' to hear how he perfectly captures the hazy, rhythmic atmosphere of a California night. It is essential listening for anyone who wants their hip-hop with a side of pop gloss and a heavy dose of West Coast sunshine.

Born in Berkeley and raised in East Oakland, California, he is best known as a credited songwriter on the 2014 singles "2 On" by Tinashe and "Loyal" by Chris Brown. Brackins signed with Republic Records as a solo act in 2010; his debut single, "143" (featuring Ray J) was released in May of that year and peaked at number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut studio album, To Live For (2016) was supported by the singles "Hot Box" (featuring G-Eazy and Mila J) and "My Jam" (featuring Zendaya and Jeremih). He frequently writes for productions by fellow California-based producer Nic Nac, with whom he formed the group Go Dav in 2007.
