C-Mon & Kypski

High-energy turntablism meets live instrumentation. A restless blend of dusty hip-hop beats, klezmer horns, and circus-tent energy for the adventurous listener.

Intro

C-Mon & Kypski sound like a crate-digger’s fever dream come to life. Their music is a frantic, joyful collision of genres where 1920s swing, Eastern European polka, and gritty 90s boom-bap all occupy the same four bars. It is anchored by the incredible technical precision of world-class scratching, but it never feels like a dry technical exercise. Instead, it feels like a traveling carnival that has been rewired with high-voltage electronics and a massive subwoofer.

What truly sets them apart is the 'live' nature of their sound. Unlike many electronic acts that rely on static loops, this group functions as a breathing band. You can hear the interplay between the live bass, the synthesizers, and the turntables, which are treated as a lead melodic instrument rather than just a rhythmic accent. There is a specific Dutch 'quirkiness' to their arrangements - a willingness to be weird and theatrical without losing the dancefloor groove.

Start with 'Where the Wild Things Are' to hear them at their most collaborative and expansive. It captures the peak of their genre-mashing powers, featuring everything from klezmer bands to underground rappers. If you want something more focused on the art of the scratch, 'Vinyl Voodoo' provides the foundational blueprint of their turntablist roots.

C-mon & Kypski is a Dutch musical group from Utrecht. The band consists of four members: Thomas Elbers alias Kypski (discjockey, producer), Simon Akkermans alias C-Mon (dj, producer), Daniel Rose ((bass) guitar) and Jori Collignon (keyboardist).
