Effortless scat singing and clever songwriting that feels like a lost classic from the 1950s. Bright, virtuosic vocal jazz for sunny mornings and smart evenings.
Caity Gyorgy sounds like the sun coming out after a long week. Her voice possesses a rare, crystalline clarity that makes even the most complex bebop lines sound as natural as a conversation. There is a deep warmth in her delivery, reminiscent of the great mid-century vocalists, but it is paired with a sharp, modern wit that keeps the music from ever feeling like a museum piece.
What truly sets her apart is her technical mastery of the 'scat' language. She doesn't just use it as a gimmick; she treats her voice like a lead trumpet or saxophone, navigating difficult chord changes with a precision that reflects her deep study of jazz history. Her original compositions are so well-crafted they could easily be mistaken for standards from the Great American Songbook, yet they sparkle with contemporary lyrical sensibilities.
Start with the album 'Featuring' to hear her interact with a variety of world-class soloists. It perfectly showcases her ability to lead a band while leaving space for the music to breathe. If you prefer something more intimate, 'A Certain Someone' highlights the pure, unadorned beauty of her phrasing and her gift for storytelling.
