Alongside their frequent collaborators Heaven Shall Burn, they helped define the 'Mosh-core' sound that bridged the gap between American metallic hardcore (Hatebreed, Earth Crisis) and the melodic death metal of the Gothenburg scene.

Their career arc is marked by a steady evolution from raw, Slayer-influenced hardcore to a highly produced, modern metal sound. Their mid-2000s transition to Roadrunner Records, under the production of Andy Sneap and later Anders Fridén, solidified their status as international heavyweights. Critically, they are respected for their longevity and consistency, maintaining a high-output schedule that spans over two decades. Their influence is most visible in the 'German Metalcore' wave, where they pioneered the use of melodic choruses within a framework of extreme aggression.
