Candy Hearts, led by primary songwriter Mariel Loveland, emerged from the New Jersey/New York DIY scene in 2009. Their sound is a sophisticated evolution of pop-punk that incorporates significant influences from 90s female-fronted alternative acts like The Breeders and Juliana Hatfield, alongside the melodic sensibilities of modern pop.
The band gained significant traction in the early 2010s through a partnership with Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory), who produced their most critically acclaimed work. Their career arc is defined by a shift from the lo-fi charm of Ripped Up Jeans and Silly Dreams to the polished, driving power-pop of All the Ways You Let Me Down.
