Intro

Crown the Empire emerged from the fertile Dallas metalcore scene in 2010, quickly distinguishing themselves through a highly theatrical and cinematic approach to the genre. Their early work, particularly 'The Fallout' (2012) and 'The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways' (2014), helped define the 'trancecore' and symphonic metalcore trends of the early 2010s, utilizing orchestral samples and heavy synth integration.

The band's sound identity was originally anchored by the dual-vocal dynamic between Andy Leo and Dave Escamilla, a hallmark of the Rise Records aesthetic. Following Escamilla's departure in 2017, the band pivoted toward a more streamlined alternative metal and hard rock sound on 'Sudden Sky' (2019), though they returned to heavier roots with 'Dogma' (2023). Critically, they are viewed as a bridge between the scene-heavy post-hardcore of the Warped Tour era and the more commercially viable active rock sound. Their influence is seen in the 'cinematic' branding adopted by many modern metalcore acts who prioritize world-building and high-concept visual aesthetics alongside their music.
