Intro

D.H.T. occupies that rare space where high-energy club music meets genuine, heart-on-sleeve sentimentality. Their sound is defined by the contrast between Edmée Daenen's fragile, breathy vocals and Flor Theeuwes's propulsive, polished production. It is music that feels equally at home in a massive European festival or a lonely bedroom at midnight, bridging the gap between aggressive dancefloor mechanics and soft, melodic pop.

What truly distinguishes the duo is their ability to recontextualize familiar melodies through a trance lens without losing the emotional core of the original songwriting. While many of their contemporaries focused on pure BPM and aggression, D.H.T. leaned into the 'unplugged' aesthetic, often releasing acoustic versions of their hits that highlighted the vulnerability of the lyrics. This duality created a 'soft-trance' niche that resonated globally.

Start with their iconic cover of 'Listen to Your Heart' to understand their formula: the build-up of gated synths, the release of the four-on-the-floor kick, and the soaring, ethereal chorus. For those who want to see their range, the acoustic version of the same track reveals the singer-songwriter DNA hidden beneath the electronic gloss.

DHT (sometimes stylized as D.H.T., acronym for Dance House Trance) was a Belgian duo consisting of singer Edmée Daenen (born 25 March 1985 in Kortrijk) and Flor Theeuwes, also known as DJ Da Rick (born 28 August 1976 in Turnhout). It had a hit in the US and Australia in 2005, with its cover version of "Listen to Your Heart", originally recorded by Roxette. The track reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart in December of that year. Marketing of the song often jokingly referenced DHT as an acronym for Definite Hit Track. On 14 June, 2019, the duo unveiled a previously unreleased album, titled #2 on Apple Music, Spotify, and other music portals. They have been able to achieve the US Billboard Hot 100's top 10 with a trance song.
