Deathchain

Deathchain, originally formed as Winterwolf in 1997, is a cornerstone of the Finnish 'deathrash' scene. Based in Kuopio, the band underwent a significant evolution in 2001, relocating and solidifying a lineup that prioritized a hybrid of death and thrash metal.

Their debut, 'Deadmeat Disciples' (2003), established them as a formidable force in the European underground, characterized by high-speed riffing and the aggressive vocal presence of Rotten. Over the course of several albums, including 'Deathrash Assault' and 'Cult of Death', they refined a sound that bridges the gap between the technicality of The Crown and the raw aggression of Finnish death metal peers. Critically, they are recognized for maintaining a high production standard that emphasizes the clarity of their dual-guitar arrangements. Their later work, such as 'Ritual Death Metal', saw them incorporating more occult and atmospheric elements without sacrificing their foundational speed. They remain a vital reference point for the fusion of extreme subgenres within the Nordic metal landscape.
