Intro

Debi Nova creates music that feels like a bridge between the lush landscapes of Costa Rica and the polished neon of Los Angeles. Her sound is a masterfully crafted blend of Latin pop, R&B, and soul, characterized by a smooth, breathy vocal delivery that feels both intimate and expansive. There is a rhythmic intelligence to her work that betrays her background in jazz and dance music, often utilizing syncopated percussion and elegant keyboard arrangements that invite a gentle sway.

What truly sets her apart is her ability to navigate multiple cultural worlds without losing her core identity. Whether she is leaning into a bachata rhythm or a sleek electronic beat, the production remains impeccably clean and sophisticated. Her music possesses a 'high-end' feel, like a designer boutique or a perfectly lit rooftop lounge, yet it remains grounded by emotional honesty and a natural, organic warmth in the instrumentation.

For those new to her catalog, '3:33' is the essential starting point. It captures her at her most creatively realized, blending experimental textures with accessible pop hooks. It is the perfect soundtrack for those moments when you want music that is smart enough to reward close listening but smooth enough to simply set a high-vibe atmosphere for the room.

Deborah Nowalski Kader (born 6 August 1980), better known by her stage name Debi Nova (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈdeβi ˈnoβa]), is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter that is widely considered to be the most successful Costa Rican artist in the country's history. Nova first started as a backing vocalist for Gandhi, one of Costa Rica's biggest and most-beloved rock bands of the '90s and '00s. Her international music career began when she became a backing vocalist for Sérgio Mendes and Ricky Martin. She then collaborated with multiple artists, including the Black Eyed Peas, Mark Ronson and Sean Paul, and wrote songs for Orishas and RBD. In 2004, she released her first solo single, "One Rhythm", which reached the top spot on Billboard's US Dance Club Songs Chart and was featured on the EA FIFA 2005 video game soundtrack. Since then, Debi has collaborated with other artists, including Franco de Vita, Ce'Cile, Fonseca, Sheila E., Vicente García, Gian Marco, Pedro Capó, Andrea Echeverri, and Tony Succar. She has also released 5 albums, 3 of which earned her Latin Grammy nominations for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album, Best Singer-Songwriter Album, Best Tropical Song, and Best Engineered Album, the latter of which she won. In 2020, she was nominated for Best Latin Pop or Urban Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards for her fourth album, '3:33', becoming the first Costa Rican artist ever to be nominated for a Grammy Award. She also holds the title of most streamed Costa Rican artist on Spotify.
