Di derre

Di derre is a seminal Norwegian pop rock band formed in 1992, led by the brothers Jo and Knut Nesbø. They emerged as a dominant force in the Norwegian music scene during the 1990s, characterized by a sound that blended folk-rock sensibilities with radio-friendly pop hooks.

Their sound identity is inextricably linked to the baritone vocals and narrative songwriting of Jo Nesbø, whose lyrics frequently explore themes of local identity, nostalgia, and interpersonal relationships, often centered around their hometown of Molde. The band's breakthrough came with the 1994 album 'Jenter & sånn', which became one of the best-selling albums in Norway. Their subsequent release, 'Gym' (1996), further solidified their status, earning them the Gammleng-prisen. Critically, they are praised for elevating the 'visepop' (folk-pop) genre through sophisticated storytelling that predated Jo Nesbø's transition to a globally successful novelist.
