Die So Fluid is a London-formed power trio that emerged in 2001, carving a unique niche between alternative rock, post-punk, and alternative metal. Led by bassist/vocalist Grog Rox and guitarist Drew Richards, the band is defined by a 'DIY or die' ethos, having been early pioneers of internet-era independence by launching their own label, Cartesian.
Their sound identity is built on Grog’s aggressive yet melodic bass lines and a vocal style that draws comparisons to PJ Harvey’s grit and the gothic intensity of Siouxsie Sioux. The band’s career is marked by resilience, particularly following the 2016 passing of founding drummer Al Fletcher, whose heavy-hitting style was a cornerstone of their early sound. The addition of Justin Bennett (Skinny Puppy) shifted their later work toward a darker, more industrial-tinged rock. Critically, they are respected for their refusal to fit into the 'female-fronted' tropes of the early 2000s, instead focusing on a muscular, riff-heavy sound that earned them a dedicated cult following across Europe and the US. They occupy a cultural space similar to Jack Off Jill or My Ruin, but with a more pronounced hard-rock technicality.
