Digitalis is a multifaceted moniker primarily associated with British producer Sebastian James Taylor (also known as Shakta and Kaya Project) and the Swiss duo of Oblivion and Ntk. Taylor's work under this name in the mid-to-late 1990s was pivotal in the development of 'psy-breaks,' a fusion of psychedelic trance aesthetics with breakbeat rhythms.

This sound bridged the gap between the high-tempo energy of Goa trance and the more nuanced, groove-oriented structures of trip-hop and downtempo. The Swiss iteration of Digitalis, formed in 2001, pushed the project further into the realm of laptop-based sound design, collaborating with Native Instruments to explore the boundaries of digital sound processing. Across its various incarnations, the Digitalis sound identity is defined by a commitment to technical precision, rhythmic complexity, and a 'space-age' atmospheric quality.
