Intro

Double You captures the peak of the 90s Eurodance explosion, characterized by a specific blend of high-tempo electronic beats and surprisingly soulful, emotive male vocals. Unlike many of their contemporaries who relied on female divas for hooks, William Naraine's voice provides a warm, human center to the mechanical precision of the synthesizers. It is music that feels both physically demanding and emotionally accessible.

What sets them apart is their uncanny ability to transform classic pop ballads into club anthems without losing the original's sentiment. Their production is defined by the iconic 'Italo-house' sound: bright, percussive piano stabs, relentless 4/4 kicks, and shimmering synth pads that create a sense of infinite nocturnal energy. It is polished, optimistic, and unapologetically built for the big room.

Start with their massive cover of 'Please Don't Go' to understand how they bridged the gap between 70s disco songwriting and 90s rave culture. From there, explore 'We All Need Love' for a masterclass in the uplifting, melodic techno-pop that dominated European and Latin American airwaves during the decade's prime.

Double You are an Italian Techno and Eurodance group founded in 1985 by vocalist William Naraine, keyboardist and producer Franco Amato and DJ Andrea de Antoni. By 1992, they had sold more than three million records. "Please Don't Go", a dance version of KC & the Sunshine Band's 1979 ballad, is one of their major hits. Since 2013, they have been fronted by Naraine, Gino Martini, Gustavo Filipovich, Paulo Soveral and Missaka.
