Doyle is the solo project of Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, the legendary guitarist of the Misfits. Formed in 2012, the band represents a significant evolution from the melodic horror punk of his former group toward a much heavier, metal-influenced sound.
The sonic identity is defined by Doyle's custom 'Annihilator' guitar tone, characterized by extreme down-tuning and a percussive, 'hit-the-strings' technique that blurs the line between punk and industrial metal. Vocalist Alex Story (of Cancerslug) provides a raw, misanthropic edge that moves away from the crooning style of Danzig or Graves into more aggressive, gravelly territory. Critically, the band is viewed as the 'heavy' successor to the Misfits legacy, often compared to Black Sabbath for its doom-laden riffs and Slayer for its sheer intensity.
